A Queensland government spokesperson says the deal is subject
to government approval. The company has told investors it
has made a deal with its Hong Kong partners, surrendering its share in Queens Wharf.
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane will transform the CBD with
four future luxury hotels, more than 50 new bars and restaurants, luxury
retail, up to 2,000 residential apartments and more
than 12 football fields of public space including stunning artworks and restored heritage
buildings. The injection of the green spaces represents
another significant milestone in the development in the
delivery of the public space that a projected 1.4 million visitors to Queen’s Wharf each year
will enjoy. « In 2023 we have seen so many elements of the development come to life- the iconic Sky deck, heritage buildings being restored, Miller Park upgraded, the Finger Wharves completed and 7.5 hectares of green spaces for everyone to enjoy, just to name a few. » The only integrated
resort development currently being built in the world – with four tower structures filling the skyline, the iconic Sky Deck, a raft of new dining and retail
options, restoration of heritage buildings plus thousands of plants and
hundreds of trees to feature in a major landscaping project.

The Sky Deck is located on Level 23 at Queens Wharf, which can be found at 33 William Street, Brisbane.
The kids enjoy standing on the glass floor, peering down to
the cars driving below. While some parts of the Sky Deck are afforded shade, the majority of it is exposed to the elements,
and as such appropriate sun protection should be employed when visiting.

It had been planned for years, with the people
of Brisbane needing to regularly get to Kangaroo Point across the Brisbane River.

« Public spaces will be among the first areas to be opened and that includes the viewing platform on Sky Deck, Miller Park, and of course the Neville Bonner Bridge linking Queen’s Wharf to South Bank, »
he said. « The Treasury Brisbane will close at a time before The Star Brisbane opens, with that date yet to be announced, » a Star spokeswoman said.

Star also flagged that it is unlikely to finalise a deal to sell its share of Brisbane’s Queen’s Wharf casino to its consortium partners – Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and
Far East Consortium – by the July 31 deadline.
Embattled casino operator Star Entertainment is facing the potential
collapse of the deal to offload its troubled Queen’s Wharf precinct in Brisbane to
its Asian partners a day before the deadline. Destination Brisbane Consortium is delivering an iconic development in Brisbane
as the city moves to a new future. In 2012, the state government announced plans
to redevelop the 9ha of riverfront area, offering the project
to willing corporations from the private sector. Today, the majority share in BAC is owned
by QIC Infrastructure Management, while Igneo Infrastructure Partners, IFM Investors, Royal Schiphol Group and
Spirit Super also have significant stakes. Hundreds of millions of dollars
went into its eight-year construction, finally opening in 1988.

The Sky Deck is an engineering marvel, with 500 tonnes of suspended steel that soars 100 metres over William Street and spans four towers like a ship in the sky.

The deal still needs to pass regulatory hurdles before it’s
finalised. A Queensland government spokesperson said the deal between Star and its joint venture partners —
Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (CTFE) and Far East Consortium — was not yet finalised.
This week, that was walked back, with Star announcing a new deal had finally been signed.
That announcement marked the beginning of a turbulent five months,
during which those same partners announced they would terminate the agreement.
